IS there anything one moment or experience that still haunts you?
by confusedandalone inlast night me and the wife were talking about things that happened to each of us while in the borg that we wished we could have reacted differently... i mean really put someone in thier place for the foolish thing they said or the deplorable action that enacted upon you.
my wife literally almost came to tears relating something that i was not aware... i wanted to end up going back to the hall for a monthy or so just too handle it.. .
do you have anything you would like to share to help us remove our own thoughts from our minds lol.

There are so many hurts it is so hard to name only a few. The total lack of love was unreal. When we were first married my husband was in a hall where the CO had asked him to go, it was a horrible hall. My husband was the only elder at the time. The way I was treated as a new wife is beyond decribing, I was yelled at all the time, told I was stupid to my face. We were pioneering and when my husband was doing some elder thing the sisters would not let me even go out in service with them. When my husband was there they refused to use their cars and my husband said everyone had to go out unlike how I was treated, so there were times when we would have six people in our Honda Civic. We beat the crap out of our car.
I talked to the CO and told him I was loosing it and he rebucked me telling me I was being selfish and that Jehovah needed my husband now that is why he was acked to go to this hall, I could have him (my husband) in the new system which was going to happen really soon. That was 25 years ago.
This does not even begin to touch on what went on while we were at Bethel, and then after we come back and the pedophile problem in the hall which was beyond hell.
I wish I could let go of the pain but its there, its like this huge wound that is just there, the hatefullness of these people knows no bounds. Like when my husband had a major heart attack and I called the CoBE and his wife answered and told me she could not help me because she had to go out in service, how while I was at the hospital even the Chaplin was blown away by how alone I was. The Chaplin said she had never seen a JW with no one there for the family.
This is just a cold hartless religion.

this week's wt study
by thedog1 ini conducted the wt study tonight on higher education.
i wondered what the reaction of the bros and sis would be.
there was no deviation from the idea that a university education is not a good idea.

should christains own cats?
by unstopableravens inis it appropriate for a christian to own a cat, in light of their past pagan religious affiliation and the medical information that is now coming to light?
it would be misleading to answer this question with either a simple yes or a no.
the scriptural answer of necessity must be a qualified one, and it is easy to see why.

Thank you so much for your educating me. I am so very stupid and did not know that some people are highly allergic to pet dander. I am so glad that there are people on this board who can help people like me who are so ill-informed.
First the book study had been in this older sisters home for a year and a half. Everyone who attended knew she had cats it was explained very well to those of us who went there, it was even brought up that if you were allergic than you would be reassigned. So the sensitive types that you mentioned could go some place else.
Second this older sister had a full basement where the book study was held and she kept the cats upstairs in a far bedroom so there were no meows or banging like you posted about being so distracting and yes I agree with my limited mind that it would be distracting to hear meows all the time. AND NO the sister did not let THEM OUT TO MINGLE with the house guests like you said she NO DOUBT DID! In fact the only way you saw her cats were if you asked and she did let the children go into the room where she kept them but only if the parents OK'ed it.
But thank you so much adamah for informing me that I was out of line by my post.
And yes I do know very well that people are higly allergic to pets and those with asthma and respiratory conductions can even die if they are exposed to pets espceially cats. I have two friends who cannot even be in a home where the family have cats as pets. But this was not the case here as the same people were in this study group of the whole time.
What the CoBE did was rude and insensitive to me in my limted way of thinking by at the last minute changing the book study the way he did and not even telling the older women why. She had opened her home and allowed 20 people to march in and then to be treated the way she was I still feel was wrong even though the cats were the cause of it.
And yes half of my post is satirical.

Months before they ended the book studys the CoBE moved the book study out of an older sisters home because of her cats. No Joke, he did'nt even tell her before hand, he just got to her house early and as we all showed up for the study that night he told us that he moved it to a brothers home a few blocks away. He told my husband in private that it was becuause of her cats. It was really strange as she kept them locked up while we were there, the older sister was really hurt and she was never told as far as I know why the shut down the study in her home.
Maybe this CoBE got a copy of this and thought it was real.

No wonder most of of you guys think us jw's are idiots
by nowwhat? inas a teenager back in the 1970's i once asked the question, how can they declare peace and security if the king of the north [soviet union] is to storm with many chariots?
i got the "what kind of question is that?
" response.. then in the 1980's i said "if it wasn'nt for the 1914 generation dying off, i don't see the slightest indication that babylon the great is going to be destroyed anytime soon.

I was always told that if I had a question about something just to wait on Jehovah and if I was right there would be some new light on it when I was in my early 20's and at Bethel. I was told to remember this brother who was super faithful who had a burning problem with something but he just waited on Jehovah and 20 years latter on the front of a WT was the answer to his question and it was the way he had always felt. So Jehovah blessed him for waiting and not running ahead of the slave. (what ever)
Stuipidly I beleived it for so long even though it truly did not make sense.

The Governing Body Have Stabbed Many Old Bethelites In The Back By Not Taking Care Of Them In Their Old Age
by frankiespeakin inthese guys are real company men when they have mass lay off of older bethelites tossing them to the curb and making the congregation they are assigned to carry some of the load, so that the watchtower corporation can cut costs of providing for these nolonger young people who have devoted theirs lives to the corporation.. they are heartless bastards aren't they?
i wonder what kind of undercurrent this is causing at headquartes?.

Fact: Your Life is trickling away or 936 Blobs...How many remain in your case?
by BluePill2 ini have seriously been thinking about my life course (like any other human being) but especially in the light of past events and where i am standing now.
my posts here show that i have (like most of us) still a good way to go until i have shredded every part of my cultish past.
at one side it will always be part of who you are and why you are now thinking, behaving in a certain way on the other hand we have to let go.

Leaving Jehovah's Witnesses is a Negative, Depressing Thing To Do, but....
by AllTimeJeff inover the years since i left jehovahs witnesses, one of the more fascinating things to observe, and really to me, the most important, is what to do after you leave.. to be sure, no one leaves because of a positive experience.
and therein lies the issues with leaving.
basically, people leave in three general ways: 1. they, like myself, resign or leave due to a disagreement.
